The Next Big Thing…..Give a gift that will be remembered

Corporate Affairs……….Love em or hate em :)

No, not that type of affair. I meant the type of affair which screams out for a
show of gratitude; congratulations, good luck or ‘thanks and well done’. In these rather austere times, one could be forgiven for thinking that we will never see the kind of gift giving and flower presenting that quite a few of us had become accustomed to in the past.

You may quite like the idea of receiving this as a 'thank you' but Bruno's not for sale :)

How about receiving this little cutey as a ‘Thank You’?  Sorry – Not for sale!!!

When I worked in the City of London for a well known employer, beneficent in nature, and well known for giving lovely thank you gifts , good bye gifts, welcome gifts and happy birthday gifts, in fact if anything moved they would send a bouquet or gift and schedule a party.   The PA would be tasked to make hundreds of calls to all the local florists for a bouquet or knick knack.    More recently, although people love to receive flowers, I for one am almost heartbroken when the flowers have faded and there is nothing left but a faded memory of a marvellous occasion.

That’s why I believe that Gift baskets are becoming more popular today.  They can serve as a beautiful holder for flowers and  plants and with a little creativity a gift can be included or enhanced so that the basket becomes a reminder of a momentous occasion which can be kept or used after the gift inside has been used or eaten.  It all depends on what the occasion is, if there is a theme and who the basket is for.

So if you want to receive something a little bit different, something which will last and serve as a lovely memory of a fantastic occasion, you would never forget the day that you received a Belle Baskets gift basket.  Better still, why not let your boss know that you have the inside scoop on what’s hot right now.

Pass on the good news …..

Personalised Gift Baskets

Hello everybody and welcome to Belle Baskets Hampers & Gift Boxes.  It is such a beautiful day today I can’t believe it is still only April.  I have been up and about since 6.00am.  The garden got a bit of a tidy, the dogs were walked and the shopping is done.  Then I sat and created what I thought was my masterpiece basket but then pulled it apart as it wasn’t made for anyone in particular.

I rather like making my pieces personal and it could be for a mother, father, newborn or valentine, it really doesn’t matter.    So if you are looking for some excellent gift ideas as I know that it can sometimes be extremely difficult to think of that perfectly delightful gift for a loved one, this is a good place to start.

I come from a large family of seven and it had always been a bit of a chore conjuring up delightful and different ideas for birthdays, anniversaries, childrens gifts, Christmas etc.  Then it came to me, why don’t I give gift baskets.  It went quite well when I sent  generic baskets but I wanted to make sure that what I sent was something really personal and which the recipient would always remember.

I thought about it for some time and eventually came up with the idea of making personalised gifts which reflected the recipient’s interest or hobby.  The first on my list was my father who had a birthday coming up and is always notoriously difficult to purchase for.  He is the proverbial ‘man who has everything’ and so what was I going to purchase for him.  He has all the ties,  shirts, socks, underpants and smelly bath salts he could ever wish for :) Woe is me, what was I going to do for him that would make that little difference and completely delight him?

My father is an old fashioned sort of chap and is none too familiar with computers.  In particular,  he doesn’t quite understand how email and web cams work.  So I thought, alongside the usual bits and bobs that I could send i.e Champagne, two crystal glasses, a box of flaked truffles (he has quite a sweet tooth), some turkish delight and some monogrammed handkerchiefs, I decided to include a very good basic book on all things internet and a gift certificate for a beginners introductory course to the internet.

Now I know you are thinking that maybe it was a little ambitious to think that a complete novice would appreciate a gift that would plunge him into the unknown.  Quite the contrary. My father is nothing if not a man who loves a challenge and when he received this gift, quite apart from the obvious quaffing of the champagne and wolfing of the flaked truffles, he jumped at the chance of the one to one tuition about the internet and is doing great.

It may seem a small thing to you but to my father it now means that he knows about email and is able to send messages to the numerous grandchildren and also communicate with my youngest sister, her husband and two boys who now live in Australia.  They have regular catchups via web cam and all is well with the world.

I was happy to give this gift and he was even more delighted to receive it as it has changed his view of the world and made it infitinitely easier for him to independently communicate with relatives throughout the world.

I do hope that that this has given you a flavour of what you can do with gift baskets.  They are not just a way of sending edible items to one another but they are also a way of making a personal impact that is sometimes immeasurably wonderful.

Have a lovely day ;)
